Christian America

by Step Jones

I'm a high school history teacher. I assign readings from all perspectives, and this one is going on the list. Jones is clear, passionate, and accessible. He represents a viewpoint my students need to understand even if it's not the one I hold. The book is a useful tool for teaching about contemporary American politics. It's not neutral, but it's honest.

Christian America

I approached this book expecting to disagree with much of it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging it was. While I don't share every conclusion the author reaches, I found myself thinking carefully about the historical examples presented. It's the kind of book that challenges assumptions rather than simply reinforcing them.

Christian America

by Step Jones

This book isn't really about history it's about the culture war. Jones uses the past as a weapon to fight the present. He laments the loss of Christian values and blames secularism for America's moral decline. It's a familiar argument, but he makes it with energy and flair. The informal tone makes it feel like a long conversation with a passionate uncle. You'll either agree wholeheartedly or roll your eyes. There's no middle ground here.

Christian America

by Step Jones

I'm 22. I didn't grow up with the "Christian America" narrative. This book was eye-opening not because I agreed, but because I finally understood where my grandparents were coming from. Jones writes like he's talking to me: informal, direct, occasionally funny. I don't buy all of it, but I appreciate the clarity. It helped me understand a worldview I'd only seen from the outside.
